El Camino Avenue - Verna Way Storm Drain Improvement Project

Project Background

The Department of Water Resources (DWR) investigated the performance of the existing drainage facilities in the neighborhood bounded by Marconi Avenue to the north, Eastern Avenue to the east, El Camino Avenue to the south, and Butano Drive to the west.  The project was initiated due to multiple street flooding reports within the project area over several years.  The goal of this investigation was to evaluate whether a drainage improvement project can alleviate the reported flooding.  The results of our analysis identified proposed drainage improvements on Becerra Way, Duran Circle, Carrisa Way, Loreto Way, Kings Way, Villa Vista Way, Avalon Drive, Lasuen Drive, Verna Way, Roslyn Way, and Ione Street.

This project will install the proposed drainage improvements on Verna Way, Roslyn Way, and Ione Street.  The El Camino Avenue/Verna Way Storm Drain Improvement Project area is located on Verna Way, Roslyn Way, and Ione Street near El Camino Avenue, between Watt Avenue and Eastern Avenue, in the Arden-Arcade area. The project area consists of approximately 45 acres of medium density residential development.  In 2015, the Sacramento County Department of Transportation (DOT) installed drainage pipe stubs to Verna Way, Roslyn Way, and Ione Street.  This Project will extend the drainage pipe stubs, finishing the storm drain improvements.

Project Description

The Project consists of installing 420 lineal feet of drainage pipe, one (1) new storm drain manhole, two (2) new drainage inlets, removing and replacing three (3) storm drain manholes, and removing and replacing four (4) drain inlets.  The improved system will increase system capacity to better capture and convey runoff during minor and major storm events, reducing the localized street flooding residents on Roslyn Way, Verna Way, and Ione Street.  See Project Location Map for proposed improvements.
